THOMAS HARLEY ENDOWED FREE GRAMMAR SCHOOL

The Thomas Harley Endowed Free Grammar School was built in 1673 and closed in 1901. it was later re-opened as a Library and then an Infant School. It is now used  for village functions.

COLEORTON HOSPITAL & FREE SCHOOL

The Coleorton Hospital & Free School was built in1707. It  was eventually demolished and in1867 Alms Houses were built on the site.

STAUNTON HAROLD SCHOOL

 Staunton Harold School was built pre-1851 and became a private residence c.1960

PEGGS GREEN PENNY SCHOOL

What became known as the Penny School was situated on the site of the former Sion Chapel in Pegg's Green. It was known locally as the Penny School as it was said that this is what pupils paid weekly for the use of their school books

GRIFFYDAM WESLEYAN DAY SCHOOL

Griffydam Wesleyan Day School  was opened in 1853 and was associated with the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at Griffydam. It became an annex when Griffydam Senior School opened in 1915, and was also used an an institute. The building was demolished in the early 1930's.

GRIFFYDAM SENIOR SCHOOL

 Griffydam Senior School was opened in 1915 and located on what is now School Lane in Peggs Green. It became an overflow school for Coalville Grammar School in 1954. It is now a private residence.

NEWBOLD C OF E SCHOOL

Newbold Church of England School was opened in 1872 and enlarged in 1899. it is still open and operating as a school  today.

VISCOUNT BEAUMONT C OF E SCHOOL

The Church Of England Viscount Beaumont School was  built in 1867 at the expense of Canon William Beresford Beaumont. It is currently one of the oldest surviving schools in the area.

GELSMOOR PROVIDENCE SCHOOL

The Providence School in Gelsmoor was accommodated in the Wesleyan Providence Chapel built in 1778. It is believed that it may have been a forerunner to the Griffydam Welseyan Day School

WORTHINGTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Worthington Primary School opened in 1926 and continues to operate as a primary school today

GRIFFYDAM PRIMARY SCHOOL

Griifydam Primary School initially opened as an Infant School in 1936. It is still operating as a primary school today.
